Pool Tournament Winners! Wait-is that a girl??!!

These are the winners of the March 8-Ball Pool Tournament:

First Place: Joseph

Second Place: Jayson

Third Place: Eric

Fourth Place: Ashley

We have a girl in the top four!!! Ashley played in her first pool tournament-and it was her birthday too. Way to go Ashley.

Ashley wasn't the only girl in the tournament though-Sydnee has been brave enough for the last several months to compete in this mostly guys-only event. She sure has come a long way and we expect her to be taking home a trophy this year sometime. Yay for the girls!!!

The competition was a good one. It's always friend against friend, which I think has been good for turning these participants into players with excellent sportsmanship, being gracious both winning and losing. Jayson and Joseph are cousins and the last game went down to the only the 8-ball on table. It was a great game. Their friend Eric fought his way back into the top three from after losing a game (it's double elimination play) with consistent, confident play. Oh and Today is his birthday:

Monthly Pool Tournaments are held the first Saturday of each month at 7pm sharp!

David gets everyone involved in a game per Raymond's request. He is an AFS student from Finland and playing these group games helps him get even quicker with the our language. However, I heard him speak and he seems to be quite fluent! Everyone there who braved the dangerously cold weather had a good time.

Grand Championship THIS Saturday!

This Saturday, January 17th is the Grand Championship 8-ball pool tournament.

Participants have to qualify by placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the monthly tournaments leading up to it.

Trophies will be awarded to the winner of the Grand Championship and also to the player with the

highest score going into the tournament.

Tournament starts at 7pm sharp so make sure you're there early enough to get you name in the hat!

Due to December being so packed with events, the 2008 Grand Championship 8-ball tournament will be held Saturday, January 17th at 7pm.

This is a tournament for all of those who made it into the top 3 at the monthly tournaments held throughout the year.

Eric took 1st Place in the December 8-ball Tournament.

Congratulations Eric!

It was Eric's first win after placing 2nd and 3rd several times this year.

Joseph F. came in 2nd place and Nick L. came in 3rd.

The tournament was fun; and we even got to see Jerry (You know who you are!) play.

The Grand Championship game will be held later on this month.

Lodge kitchen improvements

The top cabinet doors are on! It is amazing how much homier they make the place feel. And neater is nicer.

The cabinet doors go on! Dave puts the doors on the upper cabinets - hopefully the lower cabinets will get their doors next week.

The lighting left a little to be desired. But you can kinda get the picture.

The new fireplace is up and running! So now both rooms can be nice and toasty. Dave will be tweaking it a bit to assure it puts out heat and not smoke.

Dave works on installing cabinets to make a kitchen area where things can be stored neatly and out of the way. Cabinet doors should be able to go on tomorrow morning.

August Girl's Night

In August we'll be back in the swing of things with Girls' Only Night on Sunday, August 10! We'll be making friendship bracelets and cotton candy, singing crazy Kaoroke, watching videos and of course, there will be yummy snacks!!

Guys Only Night - Girls Only Night

Well, the guys were pretty jealous of the awesome Girls Only Night a while back so Dave decided to have a Guys Only Night this Sunday at 6pm. All teen guys are invited to join Dave for "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" shown on the big screen, great snacks, unique games and a general all-around good time.

The second Girls Only Night will be Sunday, June 1 - details to come. (But be assured it will be super fun!)
